Berkeley Hall Charitable Foundation Donation
Berkeley Hall Charitable foundation holds a grant recipient reception each year. This year we were highlighted as one of the nonprofits to receive money. Dr O’Malley is one is our doctors. He lives in Berkeley hall and he was asked to tell the group about our community work. We received $10,000 from the foundation for patient services and imaging lab work!

New Program!
In December, our nutritionist Wendy Barron brought new programs to the clinic. The first program involved a collaboration with the Low Country Food Bank of Charleston. A group of patients attended a two-hour workshop on better ways to shop for healthy foods. After the program, each participant received all the ingredients needed to prepare the meals that were discussed during the workshop. We are planning to have additional programs in March.
Surprise!
A surprise $9,000.00 in-kind donation came from the Hilton Head Hospital Auxiliary fund in December. We were able to purchase some pneumonia vaccines and other needed medications not provided by the Dispensary of Hope.

CH2/CB2 | BJVIM Offering Laser Eye Screenings
It’s a very Happy New Year at Greater Bluffton Jasper County Volunteers in Medicine (BJVIM) with the recent addition of a new Laser Eye Machine, designed for early detection of eye diseases in diabetic patients. The Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) selected BJVIM as the second free clinic in the Lowcountry, and just the fifth in the whole state, to receive the laser eye machine.

Reflecting on the past year, 2018 was a year of transition! Thanks to the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry, who provided us with the down payment and a mortgage through Palmetto State Bank, we moved into our very own building on August 31st. Truly, the organization has been blessed with generous benefactors that persist in their support and kindness.
Our vision is: “No one in our community will go without access to quality healthcare.” In pursuit of that goal, we continue to build an organization that now has 15 volunteer medical providers, 20 volunteer nurses and 52 volunteer administrative staff, which in 2018 delivered medical services valued at almost $2.4 million.
